those "click" moments

i recently spent some time in the country
i love springtime in the country and was excited
about documenting my visit.

unfortunately my big Sony  died while
simultaneously the battery  in my "fake" camera
(the Sony that fits into my pocket) also ran out of power.

realizing that i could still enjoy the moment,
i opted for "click" moments:

imagine you are riding in a car down a country road.
your eyes are the camera

visualize the curve of the road ahead,
telephone poles going by with steady consistency

the fields freshly plowed, edged in green
in another, amber wheat swaying in the breeze

red barns in various states of destruction
cows out to pasture

cirrus clouds streaking the bright blue sky
reflected in the surface of a pond

farmers on tractors
dust pluming behind them as they cut across the field
up over the ridge, a homemade sign "fresh eggs for sale"

clotheslines full of clothes, whipping in the wind
a buggy with its orange caution triangle on its back,
children playing in the drive

a pond with its rickety pier, a rowboat docked on the edge
hillsides filled with yellow goldenrod, like sunrise in the morning

now imagine that you captured all of those moments
click
click
no need to download

close your eyes....there they are
forever in your memory.
