kangaroo house

while on orcas island, i stayed at
kangaroo house, a lovely b&b in eastsound.

we were greeted by our host, charles
and shown around the extraordinary place.

no details were left undone, including the library,
which was filled with interesting books,  a beautiful blue & white porcelain bowl, and jars filled with seaglass.

the accommodations were wonderful.
an arts and craft house, built in 1907
as a hotel.  it was beautifully furnished
with period pieces.
one of my favorites was the pitcher in which
i found orange juice each morning

our sleeping room was  the
" nuthatch room " (i thought appropriately)

the massive fieldstone fireplace in the living room filled with quilts, travel books, binoculars, bird watching guides, and coffee and tea at the ready.  stickley furniture with comfy cushions invited us to curl up with a good book.
bonnie slept here.
i got the cute little nook.

tomorrow's post will show the details of our breakfasts!  a special treat promptly at 9:00AM.
