high falls

once again i find myself in rochester
i am drawn to high falls
to see the falls,
the bridge (pont de rennes)
the old mill area.

i found a new "lookout"
above the falls, though truth be told,
there were no falls to be seen,
just another view down river.

as i climbed the stairs to the overlook,
and stood on one of those grills with nothing
but air below, i got that spongy feeling
in my groin and upper thighs.

but i degress....walked to the little shop
at the end of the bridge and bought a pair
of earrings.
a nice morning.

high falls

along the genesee river in rochester there is an old industrial area called high falls.
high above and behind the welcome sign is the beautiful kodak building.

i walked down to the area during a recent visit to rochester.
The weather was glorious...low humidity and 70 degrees.

I walked across the river and around to the other side of the falls,

then headed to the George Eastman house nearly 2 miles away.  while walking on east avenue, i noticed the cute little shops that had sprung up since my last visit.  there were coffee shops in old chevrolet dealerships,

 restaurants in the little theatre,

and my favorite haunt in rochester, arena's....a great florist/antique/gift store in a beautiful old building.

George Eastman house

while in rochester, ny for the day, I went to the George Eastman House.
(george eastman developed the handheld camera named his company KODAK)

As I approached the east end of the city, the houses became mansions set far back away from the avenue with large wrap around porches and sweeping lawns.  the eastman house is one of those mansions with lovely european-like gardens behind the living quarters.

i could have been in Newport, RI.
