today as I walked the beach for the last time this summer, i could sense the change of seasons. only a handful of people were beachcombing, dried leaves skipped along the shoreline, and the temperatures were chilly enough to require a sweatshirt early in the day.
those who have shared the ritual morning/evening walk along the edge of grand lake erie, know that i approach the water with my plastic bag open to the wind as i silently (sometimes out loud) ask "O Abundant One, please share your vast treasures with me today".....in asking, i have generously received.
during the time i have spent at the lake, i have collected 3 quarts of clear/white glass, 1 quart of brown, 1/2 quart of green, and little half-pints of aqua and blue. (of course i had to sort them!!)
with the change of seasons it is time to head back to memphis (where it is still hot and summertime).....
as i leave cottage #4 i am grateful for so many things.
the beautiful beach and lake erie, the ability to see well enough to find beach glass, to hear the waves, the strength and stamina to walk the beach. i have thought of the walk east to west, and back again, as my labyrinth. it has kept my grounded, focused, and yet allowed me to ramble in thought and just BE.
i am grateful, too, for the time spent with family: my mother, my 2 brothers, my son and his family.
i am energized, and revitalized having lived without the digital noise of television and internet (yes....i had to cheat a little and check in with all my friends online....but just for a short time each day).
i am at a new beginning ....a change of season.
