a simple life

ahhhh.....
if it were only simple.

once again, i am trying to rid myself of possessions,
get down to the basic things that i use or love.

the "love" part is what interferes the most.
i love decorative paper, old cameras, pottery, and beautiful classic pieces of clothing.
i love books, baskets, pillows and lovely linens,

fabric, (yards and yards of it) folded into piles, fills my linen closet.

i buy shoes, boots, some with heels so high that i could never wear
oh, and purses.... black ones especially. (and one of each of the basic fashion colors)

i am always searching for the perfect piece of luggage
(kipling used to be my favorite so i have quite a few bags with no wheels...
no one carries a bag without wheels)

then there's furniture.  over the years i've whittled it down to basics.
function.
i think i can leave most of it behind, even though i use each and every piece.

but my biggest issue is the art supplies.
and the jewelry.
oh, and the magazines.

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify.

russia revisited

weather forecast for today.
snow predicted (again)....
i would rather be in russia,
where january snow is a normal expectation.

there were snowflakes flying in front of (and sometimes on) the camera lens in each of these photos.

the way home

marked with a "b"

this was a collage that i made for bonnie. it had a lot of texture and included thread and a paper button.
the quality of the photo is questionable, but the card was one of my favorites.

it's surprising how much detail is visible in a photo of the work (such as the stamped "b") that is not as obvious when you are holding the actual work in your hand.

it began as paste paper with an image from a magazine of a sheep
(this dictated that it would be for bonnie) that i glued on.
when i thought it was finished, i added the torn piece of orange colored paper and sewed it all together.
as i have said, it's hard to know when a collage is finished,
so i stamped it with a "b" and called it done.
